Albert John Yuker

Albert John Yuker, 67, of 2460 Hamilton Rd., Alpena passed away Monday November 17, 2008 at home.

Born in Detroit on September 13, 1941 to the late Bernadette (Yuker) Ward and Orland Bates later being adopted by his grandparents John and Elsie Yuker. He served in the United States Army from Oct 1962 until Sept. 1968, and worked for Saginaw Malleable Iron until his retirement in 1997. He was a member of VFW Post #1566 Saginaw and UAW Local 455 in Saginaw.

Surviving are his wife Octavia; 5 children Alan (Nancy) Woodrow of Wisconsin, Penny Jenkins of Idaho, Maria Yuker (Jeff Carter) of Chesaning, Elaine (Jeff) Wolf of Corunna, Connie (Manuel) Leal of St. Charles; 4 step children: Lynette (Joseph) Pirich of Birch Run, Duane (Alecia) Strobel of Florida, Mark (Heather) Strobel of Florida, Dana Whaley of Novi; 21 grandchildren including a very special grandson Tony Yuker (Staci Shardt), 12 great grandchildren; 3 sisters Elaine Findley of Jackson, Lila Wyman of Alpena, Marlene Bertnard of Alpena; several nieces, nephews and his faithful companion Patches.

Albert was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 5 sister: Lester Yuker, Helen Gannon, Donald Yuker, Ester Peplinski, Cecil Yuchasz, Kathryn Jacobs, Bettyann Kollin, Harold Bates and Ruthann Swallow.

Albert is at the Bannan Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday from 3-8 p.m. and where funeral service will take place on Friday at 1 p.m. with Rev. William Morris officiating. Graveside service will take place on Monday at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Saginaw at 11 a.m.
