Bernard Francis Lucas

Bernard Francis Lucas, 77, of 10825 Werth Road, Alpena, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2008, at his daughter's home in Newport, MI.

Bernard was born October 15, 1931 in Alpena to Byron and Veronica (Maikrzek) Lucas and served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War. He married Geraldine Keen September 17, 1955 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Alpena, and she preceded him in death on February 27, 2000. Mr. Lucas had been employed with D & M for 30 years and retired in 1991.

Surviving are two daughters, Linda (Mrs. Lonny) Seres of Newport, Cindy (Mrs. Larry) VanSipe of Davison; two sons, Michael Lucas and Sue Amble of Newport, Steven and wife Junie of Spring Lake; 9 grandchildren, Greg, Becky, and Melissa Seres, Lacey and Joshua VanSipe, Michael, Audra, April, and Ava Lucas; and special friend, Mabel Douglas.

Preceding him in death were two sisters, Evelyn Williamson and Agnes Gilmet.

Visitation for Mr. Lucas will be Sunday from 2-8 at the Bannan Funeral Home with a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday at St. Rose Catholic Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. James Kendziorski officiating.
