Hunter in Montmorency Co dies of natural causes

A 68 year-old hunter died on opening day in Montmorency County.

The sheriff department said the downstate victim died of natural causes at about 12:24 Sunday afternoon, off Avery Lake Road. The Lewiston Emergency Medical Service team and fire crews administered CPR to the man but their efforts failed.

Crews were on scene for nearly two-hours.

In other police news, Montmorency County Sheriff Deputies picked up three men over the weekend on possession of marijuana charges and a 54 year-old man was arrested for drunk driving.

Also, early Friday morning two young men, ages 21 and 22, were involved in a single-vehicle rollover accident on Hungry Five Road in Briley Township. One of the men was transported to Otsego Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries.

No other details have been released on the crash, which remains under investigation.
