Anyone know the names of these individuals?

I was told,Dave marjlowski Jr. And Rob Marshall. It`s too bad it has come to this....Dave is in jail.

That marlewski guy was just busted by hunt not too many days ago

They say Dave was involved but from what I hear it may not be him. We have to remember this is a bar fight and sometimes stories of drunks aren't all that good. I also know hunt has a pending charge on Dave... saying someone wore a wire. But he has yet to be charged with anything for that.

True, at 2:00am most people are plastered and probably don't make good witnesses. Tuskies is notorious for overserving people.

I don't know what happened but I hope that whoever put the kid in the hospital pays for it. It is very sad that something like that had to happen, no matter what the fight was over. Alpena is beginning to get alot of crime, and that is pretty sad.

Regardless what the fight was about who gives anyone the right to hurt a person that bad? What a shame someones life is now messed up because tempers take over. I can't believe others stood by and let this happen. What has our town come too??????

I'm curious as to where the line is drawn on what gets the police involved and media attention. Early saturday morning on July 26th Dick McDonald was attacked, UNPROVOKED, outside of the Holiday Inn by 4 or 5 men, had a beer bottle broken over his head and was rushed to the hospital. No arrests have been made and nothing was ever mentioned on the news or radio. If Marchlewski is being charged with Assault with Intent to Commit Murder, than what is the difference on what he did and what the men who attacked Dick did?

A warrant was issued in the McDonald incident It was for aggravated assault. Al Charboneau Jr. is out on $7,000.00 bond.

Completely agree with the above comment. The officer involved was Brooks and nothing has been done. He promised to stay in touch and oops so much for that. Dick McDonald's injuries could have been life threatening as well. The officer even had the name of one of the perpetrators, and instead of getting a warrant right away, they called him and asked him to come to the police station. Like this type of person would really just voluntarily walk into the police station. Alan Sharboneau was one of the perpetrators. over a month later a warrant was issued and now it appears to be a dead end. So much for feeling safe.

I was told that Rob passed away yesterday. I know this is alpena, and it is a rumor mill, but does anyone know if this is true?

mherriman: Just because it was Brooks as the investigating officer doesn't mean that he himself dropped the ball. If he did his investigation and turned it over to the Prosecutor's office that is where it pretty much stops (not completely) for him until that office issues the warrant. Personally I hadn't heard anything about this so I cannot say who is at fault for dropping the ball but if knowing the Pros office, DPG probably let it sit there on his desk or at his home. This Al Charbonneau that you speak of is this the same one that shot at the trooper's a few years ago? Interesting if it was.

I heard that they were not even at the bar and that Dave was looking for Ron and saw him walking. I heard that he hit him and Ron fell and hit his head on the curb. I also heard that someone walked out of the bar and saw Dave kicking Ron in the head multiple times and that it was very bloody. If Dave were looking for Ron, he wouldn't have gone alone, so who was with him and why didn't they stop Dave??? I wonder what Dave is thinking about in jail?

no ron has not passed he has woke up and is getting better everyday. this is alpena people you cant' listen to rumors.

starboard is right, it is not officer Brooks, it is our pathetic prosecutors office. the officer turns everything over to the prosecutors and then the prosecutor has the almighty power.

There is still no reasons it took 3 months for an arrest, if any(Mr. McDonald was never notified of an arrest, and has been poorly informed of any ongoings in this case). Brooks was given names and location where they were going that night of the incident. Yet the police were never sent after Charbonneau that evening, when they for sure could have been caught "Red Handed" so to speak as they would have been covered in blood from Mr. McDonald's head and face.

I do not know where you get your information from EMP-but you are wrong, you are spreading flase information about Brooks and what happend that evening.

Time delays of three months are inexcusable on most cases. However many cases sit on the desk at the prosecutors office for months before they get around to reading them and making any type of decision. More times than not, the delay is on them. Not the police.

I feel for any victims now as DG sure the hell is not any ball of fire in his last few weeks, old "experence matters Judy" is off until her election probably with body man Lonnie counting Black signs which leaves dynamite Don at the helm as head chief, cook and bottle washer.

Oh. Sorry "the Shark" I didn't know you were present at the time of the attack, as I get my information first hand from Dick. Brooks has not been in contact with him for a well over a month with any information on the case. Now his hospital bills are pileing up with no restitution in site. Doesn't make much sense to have to foot the bill for being a victim.

EMP why the attack on Brooks??? if a warrant was issued out of the Prosecutor's office that would be up to the Victim's Advocate(s) to notify Mr. McDonald of any arrest, court date, etc. He should be paying his bills and turning all receipts over to the advocate so that she could collect restitution for him when the day comes that the Prosecutor's office decides to take it to court. That is if they don't dismiss all cases when or if Judi looses. Don't be surprised if that happens either! If you are fired up about this now, just wait to see if she does loose.

Secondly EMP has not attacked Officer Brooks, just the process in general. (though the police were called to the beating of Mr McDonald, and subsequently left with a shrug. Mr McDonald's son had to retrieve his truck--which was covered/surrounded by blood--the next day). Why can one man be attacked and sent to the hospital with no one concerned, while another is attacked and the news is 'front page'?

Kmandor: Sorry!!! I am sure that I am not the only one that has had a grammatical or misspelled error. It is or was in my opinion (which I am entitled to) that EMP was placing blame on Brooks for this also.
Now getting to the point at hand. I could not agree with you more on why one case gets media attention vs. another case. I have tried to figure that out for a while. There are a couple cases that I could point out that have had similar results.

I'm not fully placing the blame on Brooks. Just stating that there is more that could/should have been done that night. As well that his follow up has been less than desired to a victim that is eagerly awaiting some sort of "Justice". I'm sure there are others at fault with the time delays.
And as I stated in my original post... such a stiff charge for Marchlewski, yet only aggravated assault for Charbonneau. Sure Marchlewski's victim ended up in much worse condition, but Dick could have very well shared the same fate. If someone is swinging a beer bottle, or delivering kicks to someone's head they are meaning GREAT bodily harm.

I think the biggest reason why Mr. McDonald's case was not on the news is simply because of Dave's last name. It is a good question on why Al Charbonneau and the others involved were not picked up that night or shortly after. But the Prosecutor's office had a warrent for Dave the next after noon, with no proof. I guess if someone doesn't hospitalize you then your beating must not be as bad. I also think it is crazy that they can have Dave since you are innocent till proven guilty. But The HUNT team wants to get Dave, notice that they assested in the arrest. They have for awhile wanted to nail him on anything. I think if you have to start a statement with "I heard..." then you should just keep it to yourself.

this has nothing to do with dave's name, it has to do with the severity of the beating and then witnesses that came forward that lead to his arrest

Dave deserves everything that he gets! Im pretty sure he'll try to blame someone else for his misfortune to get the lighter sentence. I say let him fry! What does Dave's name have to do with it, and his father? I have known Dave's father for years and you could not find a better person!! Ron and his brother's all have been feed many meals by Dave's father, when their own mother was not home and their father was not around. By the way Ron lived with Dave Jr. and his mother for awhile when he had no where to go. What ever happened to a person being innocent until proven guilty. As far as the witnesses, how reliable are they after drinking till 2 in the AM. There where witnesses that also stated that Dave was in the bar and when he came out the fight was pretty much over and that Ron was not kicked but, hit his head on the curb when he fell, they did not see Dave hit or kick Ron. What about the other people involved in the fight, or the bystanders, most of them are saying they were not even there, when their names were given to the police by witnesses, whom were not drinking. Seems to me when a person refuses to work with Hunt, and is willing to go to court against there charges, they become hell bent on getting that person one way or another.
I personally saw Dave with the same clothing on when all this was supposable to have happened and their was no blood on him - he looked like he just got out of the shower and put on clean clothing, nothing on his boots either, as well as no markings on his face or hands to indicate a fight.This is not something I "HEARD", it is what I saw.
I talked to Ron's father and he said that Ron was released from ICU today. His father whom he will not talk to, because it is his fault for all of Ron's problem with drugs and being in prison. The father who had to leave town to find empolyment, and who has called Ron through out the years, but Ron will not take his calls - the same dad who calls the hospital everyday and Ron will not talk to.
Do I think anyone deserves to be beaten to the point of haveing to go to the hospital NO not at all. But Ron was throwing punches outside the bar. Just like blaming his dad for everything, he needs to start taking some responsiblity for his own actions. Isn't he on probation and just released from prison this spring. What the hell is he doing, didn't he learn anything!

Blah, Blah, Blah, they wouldnt be holding the guy on a million dollar bond if they didnt have some type of proof of his involvement. Like all the witnesses placing him at the scene. we'll see as the case unravels..... As citizsens you have the right to attend the hearings, i know it would be interesting to attend to see what really happened.

Updated info. if anyone is interested. Aaron Bensman was arrested inconnection for this fight, in which he bragged about Tuesday night in Jonsey's, I was there talked with him, didn't hear about it. He has 9 warrants, a previous felony assault in Alpena, and 2 more felony's out of Ohio. He also left the state of ohio without doing his prison term of 17 months. He is being held without any bond. As far as shoe prints on Ron, very visible and very large tennis shoe print. He is the one who started all of this and I hope he is man enough to take blame. I wonder why he has so many teeth knocked out. Trust me I will be at all these hearings, but they are not going to be open to the public for scrutiny and personal, and verbal comments.

I don't remember the guys name but he caught his house on fire in alpena about 5 years ago, because his wife left him, he got like 20 years or something! something in alpena seems very unfair about how they do things

Ron's dad might be a drunk as you say, but does that give him the right to blam all of his actions on him. My dad is a drunk, thats why I do drugs and drink, he's the reason I went to prison. Grow up Ron and take responsibility for your own actions. Wasn't Ron in a fight prior to this one, could not the brusing you say you saw on him be from his previous fights?? Looks like nobody but the Shark knows that these things, including the work that HUNT has to do, wouldn't happen if people in this town could leave ILLEGAL drugs alone and learn how to drink like responsible ADULTS. Too many people in Alpena are in need of baby sitters that where uniforms. They need to grow up. Midnightgypsy it's not my dad it is Ron's - Ron is the one who blames everything on his dad. Yes my father was also a drunk, a very abusive drunk - but I take responsibility for my own actions - I don't do drugs, drink only socially (a few glasses of wine every now and then), have a family that I take care of, went to college and have a degree and a full time job. I made the choice not to have the life my father had or give that type of life to my family. Maybe you should read what I said before jumping to your own conclusions.

Well said Midnightgypsy. I still disagree with the part about informants. No one is twisting their arms to do it. They can do whatever they want. They dont have to work with hunt. hunt uses them to get the bigger guys thats all. Sorry i said you sounded ignorant.

But what does HUNT do to people who will not work for them - make their lives a living hell. Dave refused to work of them and choose to go to trial, they really don't have a case against him and look what happened to him. There are also others in this town that have gone through the same thing - it seems like once they get your name they will not let you be - even when you are trying to get your life straight

How is it that hunt gets these people to work for them. The answer is that they have dealt drugs themselves. If they don't want to work they probaly go to jail. Whats so difficult about that? They choose to break the law. hunt doesn't make them do it. Your dave is in jail for a reason. He obviously dealt drugs and beat someone or he would not be in a cage right now. How is that hunts fault? He is a criminal and he is were he belongs. doeson't a judge have to see it that way for him to be in jail? Get real alpenawomen. You are also right when you say that drug dealers make their own choices, so to speak. They sure do...everyone has free will. For the most part I feel the Hunt team does a good service for the public, except letting some of the losers go that should be in the "cage", just to obtain their information, but I realize they have a job to do and just wish there were a better way. I am only opposed to putting people in harm's way, and for the bad guy getting off the hook for tattling on someone else. It doesn't seem fair! Of course if you are arrested you are guilty - forget about the constution - As if our legal system has never put anyone in jail that has not belonged there?? I know Dave and I just was at his house not too long ago and I do want to say one thing. HE WAS STRAIGHTENING UP...If you know him you would defend him. I don't think he did it, but then who knows because I wasn't there. I sure hope he didn't do this...Does anyone know if Ashley's baby is his???? I sure hope not due to this and I feel bad for his child he already has.

I find it very funny when we have a man seriouly hurt and dont really no how the out come will be and people are asking questions like is ashleys baby daves. Yes i feel bad for the children they dont choose there parents,because if they did they would not have chosen a mother like her either she already has kids she doent take care of. I am so amazed at how this scenario affects so many people in the area. Everyone makes (and is entitled to make) stupid choices while drunk or sober. Both men involved here apparently made bad choices in the past or they wouldn't be in the situation they are in now. I hope that the victim is going to be okay and make a full recovery. Hopefully, he will make some lifestyle changes in the end. As for the man behind bars, if he is truly responsible for this, I hope he pays for it. No circumstances excuse what has happened. None of this even changes or affects my life in any way. I am just someone with an opinion and I am exercising my constitutional right here!

To the comment of Tuskie's overserving people - YOU are first & foremost responsible for knowing when you have had enough to drink and when it's time to call it a night...Not the bartenders! If you are getting too out of control, by all means the bartenders will cut you off and send you on your way. They are even great at calling you a cab if need be. I have seen it happen many times that I've been in there. I have been witness to very few fights there in the past years and have never seen either person involved in this case ever at Tuskie's.

ron is getting better every day. he had a little set back last night. he is very determined to get better and get out of the hospital. he definately has a long road ahead of him

gina thank you for sharing with the public on how Ron is doing it amazes me on the rumors. Yes people were walking around saying he past away last night. For the comment on the bar situation,yes iit is your responability to no when you had enough but look who we are dealing with and i have seen tuskies over surve and yes i will agree they will call a cab but its not that way everynite. Children come first and for most. Her other 2 kids got taken away from their dad because of how horrible she is to them. Ashley Badgero is her name for those who asked. I worry about Ron and Dave too but you also have to think of how Dave's children will be effected especially his older one. People need to keep their noses out of it and just let
the law take its course.

I'm not going to participate in the bickering here, but as someone who grew up in Alpena and left for a bigger city, I get a kick out of how the entire town is on here arguing among themselves about a BAR FIGHT. That kind of thing wouldn't even make the news anywhere other than Alpena. I wish everyone would quit complaining about how the town is going to s**t and thank your lucky stars that the worst you have to worry about is a bar fight and some "graffiti on the north side." I have actual GANG graffiti in my neighborhood and the family across the driveway from mine was shot up in the middle of the night by some thug kids who were mad at the teenage son.
