Fire torches two homes in Montmorency County

Fire damaged two homes in Montmorency County in separate incidents, including a 3-alarm fire early this morning.

A chimney fire broke out at a residence in downtown Hillman at about 9:30 Wednesday night, near State and Second Street. Crews cleared the scene a little more than an hour after they arrived. No injuries were reported and the extent of the damage is not known.

At about 12:30 this morning Tri Township Fire and EMS were called to a home on Carter Road and M33 south. Additional firefighters from Hillman and Lewiston were called in to battle the blaze.

No injuries were reported and it is not known if the property owners were home at the time of the fire.
