The former business manager of St. Mary’s Cathedral and School in Gaylord has been extradited from Florida to face embezzlement charges.
Forty-four year-old Shelly Patterson was transported back to Gaylord on Tuesday, by the U.S. Marshals Service. Authorities believe she took about $295,000 from the church during a two-and-a-half-year period.
Patterson moved to Florida in September of 2007. She is being charged with embezzlement, forgery and uttering and publishing.
City of Gaylord Police say Patterson remains lodged in the Otsego County Jail on a $750,000 cash bond.
If convicted, she faces up to 20 years in prison.
