For the second time in less than three months the Michigan Supreme Court has denied an appeal by a Cheboygan man who brutally beat his girlfriend.

Larry Charles Stackhouse was convicted by a jury in 2010, of domestic assault – 3rd offense and was sentenced to three to 15 years behind bars as a habitual 4th offender.

The 45 year-old Stackhouse claims he was denied a fair trial because the prosecutor committed misconduct and he received ineffective counsel.

The Supreme Court denied Stackhouse’s leave to appeal in June and this week denied another one “because it does not appear that the order was entered erroneously.”

Stackhouse’s former girlfriend testified in 2010 that he knocked her down, choked her, bit her on the hand, dumped chicken grease on her and kicked her in the body and head as she lied on the ground.

Stackhouse has prior convictions of criminal sexual conduct, arson and assault.  He is serving his time inside Gus Harrison Correctional Facility in Adrian, Michigan.
