Parent Night at Thunder Bay Jr. High
Alpena Public Schools (APS) is hosting a “Parent Night” event at Thunder Bay Junior High School.
The event is for parents only and is another attempt by APS to get parents more involved in their children’s schooling.
“Parent engagement in education has been shown to improve academic outcomes, reduce drop out rates, increase the likelihood of pursuing higher education, and positively impact children’s attitudes toward school,” said APS Parent Involvement Coordinator Lee Fitzpatrick. “We want our parents to know that they are highly valued and an essential partner for educational success.”
Parent Night is being held at the junior high school Thursday, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Parents should bring their child’s planner and will have a chance to follow the class schedule.
First hour begins promptly at 6 p.m.
