The Montmorency, Alpena, Presque Isle Community Emergency Response Team (MAP CERT) is looking for brave men and women who want to assist in the event of a local disaster.

A free training session for new members is being held next month.

CERT members are trained to assist in hazards that may impact the region, including basic disaster response skills such as fire safety, search and rescue and medical operations.

Team members may assist local emergency response agencies at the scene of a disaster or lend aid when those professionals are not readily available to help.

The training session for persons interested in joining MAP CERT is being held October 26-28 at the Alpena Events Complex (APLEX).
