Alpena County and the U.S. Air Force have inked a new 50-year deal for continued use of the Combat Readiness Training Center.

According to commissioners, the new lease agreement includes only a few minor changes over the previous contract.

The agreement allows the Air Force to pull out of the deal with a 30-day notice.  That was needed in the event the federal government slashed funding for future operations at the base.

The lease agreement is retroactive to July 15.
