Governor Rick Snyder has signed legislation authorizing nearly $38 million in Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund grants to support 99 recreation and land acquisition projects.

Three of the projects are located in Alpena and Cheboygan counties.

“These projects allow us to preserve the places that make Michigan such a special place to live, work and play,” Snyder said.

In Alpena County, a nearly $74,000 grant will be used for improvements to Wolf Creek Park in Wilson Township.

In Cheboygan, $280,000 will be used for improvements to Topinabee Lakeside Park; and another nearly $251,000 to develop the Marina Park trailhead in Tuscarora Township.

Total cost of the projects across the state is $65 million when matching funds of more than $27 million are combined with the $38 million appropriated by the legislation.
