A 20 year-old man was tasered Friday, after he ran from City of Alpena police and resisted arrest.

Officers were called to Clem’s Bait & Tackle at around 4 o’clock this morning, after witnesses saw two men break into a pop machine at the store.

Police were told the suspects, ages 18 and 20, were headed toward Riverside Skate Park on Ninth Street, where they were located.  The witnesses positively identified the men at the park.

As the suspects were being taken into custody, the 20 year-old took off and a short chase ensued.  He was quickly tackled but continued to resist and needed to be tasered.  He was taken to the hospital and later jailed on charges of breaking and entering of a coin operated machine, resisting and obstructing police and minor in possession of alcohol.

The 18 year-old was charged with B&E of a coin operated machine.

A city police officer was also treated at the hospital for minor injuries.
