The sentencing of 27 year-old Steven Wilson of Ossineke has been moved to August.

Wilson previously pleaded no contest to a charge of involuntary manslaughter in the death of Jeffery Mousseau and was expected to be sentenced Monday.

But a mix up occurred in the scheduling as his attorney was in Cheboygan on another matter.  He will now be sentenced August 20.

Wilson is charged with assaulting the 48 year-old Mousseau who died January 9.  The two men were both heavily intoxicated at the time and started fighting over a gas fireplace.  Wilson told police he hit Mousseau 15 to 20 times with his hands or fists and one or two more times with his elbows.

The fist fight occurred during the early morning hours at Mousseau’s home on Old Ossineke Road.  An autopsy confirmed that Mousseau died of blunt force trauma to the head.

Wilson faces up to 15 years in prison and/or a $7,500 fine.
