A 39 year-old house guest has been charged with killing a suburban Detroit couple who’d been hosting him, dismembering their bodies and dumping them in a river.

The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office said Sunday Roger Bowling faces two counts each of first-degree murder, mutilation of a body and having a firearm in a felony.

First-degree murder carries a mandatory penalty of life in prison without parole.  He is also charged with tampering with evidence.  His arraignment is Monday.

Two bodies with no feet, heads or hands were found Tuesday in the Detroit River and a canal that feeds the river.  The mile-wide body of water separates Detroit from Windsor, Ontario.

The victims were identified as 42 year-old Chris Hall and his 32 year-old fiancée, Danielle Greenway.

Bowling was Greenway’s ex-boyfriend.  Police arrested him Thursday.
