A Rogers City woman pleaded guilty yesterday to involuntary manslaughter of her newborn child by failing to seek medical attention after the baby girl died shortly after birth in her parents home in June 2011.

Karrie Lynn Mulka, 29, entered the plea in Presque Isle County’s 53rd Circuit Court after being arrested on the charge in November of 2011 and being found fit to stand trial in April of this year.

Judge Scott Pavlich accepted Mulka’s plea and scheduled her for sentencing on August 27. She faces up to 15 years in prison and/or a $7,500 fine.
