The Montmorency County Sheriff’s Office responded to a number of incidents over the past few days, including a couple of weekend wildfires.

Two fires broke out on Saturday.

Shortly after 6 a.m., Lewiston fire crews were called to a tree that caught fire after an electrical line fell on it.  There were no injuries.  Presque Isle Electric and Gas Co-op took care of the downed power line.

At about 8:30 Saturday night, a 911 caller reported a grass fire at Meridian Line and Huff roads in Vienna Township.  Tri Township crews from Atlanta assisted at the scene and were able to quickly control the flames.

Last Thursday, county deputies learned of a stolen pickup truck out of Otsego County might be in the Lewiston area.  The truck was located and the 19 year-old male driver was arrested on several charges.

Deputies were called to Atlanta on Friday, on a report of stolen tools.
