Two 50th anniversary events are scheduled at the International Bridge in the Upper Peninsula.

Commemorative lights will be lit in Sault Ste. Marie on Thursday.

Red and white rope lights will grace an eastern portion of the Canadian arch section of the bridge.  Red-white-and-blue rope lights will light the curved portion of the U.S. double-arch section.

On Saturday, the expanded 26th annual bridge walk will include a bike parade across the bridge and back, revolving historic digital photo displays, a 50th anniversary video presentation and bus tours across the bridge guided by bridge staff.

The walk marks the only time of year when pedestrians are allowed to cross the bridge.

The bridge lights and a fireworks display will be visible from both countries.
