Commissioners to consider grants for HUNT & adult drug court program
When Alpena County Commissioners meet Tuesday afternoon, they will consider the submittal of two grant applications.
One of the grants is for the Huron Undercover Narcotics Team (HUNT) and the other for the local adult drug court program.
HUNT wants to apply for a Byrne Jag grant, which it has done in years past. Acting commander Mike Hahn said the nearly $88,000 grant requires the same amount in a local match. The monies would be used to fight crime in Alcona, Alpena, Montmorency and Presque Isle counties.
The 88th District Court of Alpena wants to apply for a state grant of a little more than $67,000 for the adult drug court program. That grant requires a local match of more than $83,000, which would be provided in the form of in-kind services.
The two grant applications were approved by the county’s finance committee last week, and are expected to be approved by the full board of commissioners.
