Alpena suspect refuses drug test – ends up in jail
A young Alpena man with a history of violent behavior is back in jail.
Thomas Robert Scott, 21, was recently sentenced to one year in the Alpena County Jail on a reduced charge of possession of a firearm by a felon.
Scott has been convicted of a felony in the past and broke the law when he was picked up again and in possession of a gun. He eventually helped police in Montmorency County track down the person who stole it.
He has since been picked up on a new felony charge in Montmorency.
When he was recently sentenced in Alpena on the possession charge, Scott refused to take a drug test. He eventually told his attorney he would fail because he had smoked marijuana.
Scott is the same man who in March 2009 stabbed his father with a knife at their home on Alfred Street. His father recovered. Last year Scott spent time in jail for assaulting a county deputy at an underage drinking party; and when he was 15, Scott brutally beat up another teen who sustained permanent brain damage.
