Pettalia & other lawmakers embark on town hall tour
Four Northern Michigan lawmakers are embarking on a town hall tour to gather input from area residents and local government officials.
State Representatives Peter Pettalia, Frank Foster, Greg MacMaster, and Bruce Rendon have invited Rep. Mark Ouimet, chair of the House Committee on Local, Intergovernmental and Regional Affairs, to public meetings in Indian River, Alpena and Roscommon.
“State representatives’ top responsibility is to serve Michigan’s hard-working residents to make sure their tax dollars are being used efficiently and effectively,” said Pettalia. “These forums will allow us not only to listen to people’s concerns across Northern Michigan, but to have the House committee chair who is working on the state’s local government policies hear them as well.”
All three town hall meetings will be held on Monday, May 14. The lawmakers will start their day at the Tuscarora Township Hall in Indian River, from 8 to 9:30 a.m., before heading to the Alpena Events Complex where they will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. They will end their day at the Roscommon Township hall from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Topics to be discussed during the town hall meetings include emergency manager laws, best practices for local municipalities and revenue sharing. All local officials and residents are invited to attend.
