Alpena Public Schools has purchased a used van to replace one that has a lot of miles.

Maintenance and Transportation director Mike Gagnon purchased the van for $12,500.

Gagnon wants to add a lift to the back of the van so it is easier to load and unload.  He is also looking for an enclosed trailer to supplement the fleet.

The purchase of the van did not need full board approval because the price was held under $25,000.  The board of education’s property committee gave Gagnon permission to buy it last month.

The property committee also encouraged Gagnon to buy an enclosed trailer instead of keeping the old van, as he wanted to.
