Alpena officials: California airport conference a success
Alpena officials were able to make some important contacts this week, at an airline conference in California.
Jackie Krawczak, the executive director of the local chamber of commerce and Jim Klarich, the director of Target Alpena spent a couple of days in Bubank, California, brushing shoulders with airline executives.
Krawczak and Klarich were joined at the conference by a consultant hired to help find a replacement airline for Delta.
Krawzcak said it was a valuable conference and “we made some great contacts that we (Alpena) should maintain in the future to assure we have the right networks for future needs of our airport.”
Krawczak and Klarich were able to meet one on one with five airlines. She said they now have to provide some additional details to some of those companies and then “wait to see who bids” on the Essential Air Service (EAS) contract for the local airport.
