Police are investigating the tragic death of an elderly woman from Montmorency County.

The woman was found dead Monday afternoon, next to her car which was partially submerged in a pond behind her house on Farrier Road.

A passerby called 911 after finding the woman.  Hillman Fire and EMS crews arrived on scene and found the victim unresponsive.

The investigation is being conducted by Michigan State Police from Alpena.  It does not appear foul play was involved however the incident remains under investigation.
