Cheboygan residents asked to donate cell phones for seniors
The Cheboygan County Sheriff Department is again teaming up with the 911 Cell Phone Bank to support area senior citizens.
The sheriff’s department will collect used cellular phones from the community and turn them over to the 911 Cell Phone Bank for processing. In exchange, the 911 Cell Phone Bank will make available no cost emergency cell phones to communities in the Cheboygan area.
May is Older Americans Month and Sheriff Dale Clarmont says that’s an occasion to show appreciation and support for seniors. This year’s theme – Older Americans: Connecting the Community is well suited to the mission of the 911 Cell Phone Bank; providing no cost emergency communication to vulnerable residents nationwide.
Used cell phones can be dropped off at the sheriff’s department on any day.
The Cheboygan Sheriff Department has been a partner with the 911 Cell Phone Bank since May 2010, and to date has collected more than 140 cell phones.
