Police are looking for the person or persons who broke into Alpena High School Sunday on their way to some vending machines inside the Plaza Pool.

According to Officer Mark Divney, the vandal or vandals got into the high school through a window and subsequently forced their way through the door leading into the pool.  A couple of vending machines were broken into and an unknown amount of cash was stolen.

The damage was found by janitorial workers Monday morning.

Divney said police will review the schools’ security cameras to see what they might have picked up.  The break-in remains under investigation.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact police at 354-1800.

Maybe they wanted to go swimming before the county closes the pool. And we all get hungry after a good swim right?

This came across the scanner and the K-9 uni was called to the scene. However there was no answer on either a cell or land line. What did the City buy, an trained expensive pet? The perp would have probably been caught Monday morning if there would have been a response.

well that seems odd, since the doors were left unlocked last night as well, it was on the scanner at around 1;30 am Tuesday morning?? Cops were searching the building, and called the school contact number, but were told ,”that is the counties part of the building”??? even though a person would have full access to the whole school, if they were in that area, so the school personnel didn’t respond????? Who locks those doors at night ? the county ? the school personnel ?

There are bars blocking off the rest of the school at night…and isn’t our K-9 on the cities budget cut?

Someone in janitorial called the police Monday morning around 6 a.m. and requested the K9 unit. The dispatcher said there was no answer on either a cell phone or land line and they would try back in a half hour. What’s with that? Point made.

Well then the bars must not have been closed either, because they were looking in the auditorium the main office and B wing. But no one wanted to get out of bed and go down there.
